Why do Indians resist paying taxes? A Letter To The Prime Minister Of India

Following is a WhatsApp message I received on my phone today.  Whoever penned this it is indeed brought out some of the bare truths the Indian taxpayers are facing.  It is interesting to note that the letter is addressed to the Prime Minister of India, who is trying his level best to look into the well-being of the ordinary citizens of India.  His many activities are indeed notable and praiseworthy.  Let us hope that the P-M will look into these factors mentioned in this letter.  Why do Indians resist paying taxes? is the title given to it.  No doubt this is a thought-provoking one each Indian should make note of. Especially the rulers of our country to seriously look into it to extend a helping hand to the poor tax payers of India.

It is very true that most of the top brass evade tax and ultimately the whole burden put on the ordinary people.  Please go through it and think how true it is!

I request the Indian readers to share this thought with the fellow citizens of India who are under the burden of paying heavy taxes.

Here we go… Read on…

*Why do Indians resist paying taxes ?*

Interesting thoughts on why Indian resist paying taxes, in an open letter to the Prime Minister_.

_Forwarded as received:

_Dear Modiji,

_This is what we honest citizens feel about our Governments – Central and State…

_On behalf of professionals & businessmen, I am sending you some facts …

_Please try to understand.

_We are not doing Tax ‘”Chori”‘… this is tax saving (a bit of evading too).

_This is to ensure the security of our family, kids and their future for any adversity.

1. _We bought Generators/Inverter in our houses because Govt. failed to provide constant electricity._

2. _We installed submersible pumps because Govt. failed to provide water.

3. _We hired own security guards, because Govt. failed to provide security.

4. _We send our kids to private schools, because Govt failed to provide good education in public schools.

5. _We headed for private hospitals to avail proper care and treatment because Govt. failed to provide good public hospitals.

6. _We bought cars because Govt. failed to provide good transportation.

_Finally.., what the taxpayer gets in return at the retirement when he needs most to survive ?

_Nothing, no social security.

_But instead all his hard earned income resource is used by Government to distribute subsidies and freebies in the name of welfare schemes among masses to buy “free votes” to those who don’t pay any taxes.

_Above all what Govt do with our (tax) money?

_Open courts which do not give judgment.

_Open police station which works for politicians only and not protects citizens.

_Open hospital which does not treat us well.

_Build roads wherein 40-100% of money spent goes in vain due to corruption.

_Endless list….

_Like western democracies, if Indian Government could provide all the above, why would anyone save taxes ?

_We all know that the major tax revenues collected from us are consumed by Government officials and politicians (billions of dollars are lying in foreign banks).

_A manufacturer works at a margin of between 2% to 10%, whereas government needs 30% of his income to cover its expenditure. How fair it is all ?

_That’s the reason no one wants to pay taxes.

_We save taxes for our necessities, family, for our old age, for our safety, security and this phenomenon is the sign of the failure of Government in discharging its own functions fairly and efficiently. Government alone is responsible for this.😡

_But on the other hand…

_We challenge that if Govt announces that Rs.1000 crore is required for Indian Army or floods or earthquake victims !!!

_The same amount will be deposited within couple of days by these “Tax Savers” only.

_We will come forward with open hearts.

_My dear friends,

_If you agree with this opinion please forward this until the Government realizes.

_We shall not only forward this but now time has come we all shall discuss and put this view openly/strongly/boldly through all associations because Govt is openly calling all बेईमान   (dishonest) and we notice Govt official continue to blackmail us and we notice there is not one percent fall in asking of bribe..

*Circulate this message as widely & briskly as possible so that the Government is compelled to at least pay cognisance for our common  good..*

_So hurry ladies and gentlemen!!
