Though you are a regular visitor to Philipscom some of our readers know you well, but for the new readers here, we need and intro about you so, will you please share a bit about you, I mean your childhood, education, present job etc.
Robin: Thank you Philip Sir for the kind invite and the warm welcome. I am so glad to be part of this Amazing Blogger of the week interview series. I will begin with my Name. I am Robin Khokhar, a Tech Guy based in Amritsar, Punjab (also known as “The Holy City)”. This is the place I born and brought up. Let me tell a bit more about Amritsar – it’s the City where the famous Golden Temple is located, and also this place is famous for the Jallian Wala Bagh.
About my education, I did my bachelor’s degree in Computer Application and also finished my MBA via correspondence.
Currently, I am not working as a 9 to 5 employee, instead, I am self-employed and working as a full-time blogger. I own three websites and from two of them Tricky Enough and Pixa Ocean) I earn my living.
Philipscom: I know your niche is Technology and blogging, apart from this what other genres do you write?
Robin: Yes, there is another blog named All about Bible though I write occasionally for this blog with the help of some of my friends who are experts in writing content on the religious niche. Though they provide content for this blog I manage all the technical and other SEO related matters.
Philipscom: What is your source of inspiration for writing/blogging? I mean, to me my Grand Mother and later my Elder Sister were an inspiration to me in writing. Do you have anyone in your life to point out to in this aspect?
Well, no one to point out from my famIly or relatives as an inspiration to me in this aspect. But while working in a local SEO company I came to know about Blogging and slowly started my own blog. I can say that I was inspired to start my blog when Harsh Aggarwal and few other bloggers shared their experiences in blogging through their blogs. That is where I came to know about that vast opportunity available in blogging.
Philipscom: What was the time (how old you were) you realized that you wanted to be a writer, or that you can be an online writer?
Robin: Now I am 25 years old and two years back, I came to know that writing content online can help me make money and could help me live my dream life. This was when I started writing blog posts.
Philipscom: Who are your favorite online writers/authors who inspired you in the field of writing? There may be a big list with you but please answer it within five to ten names. How often do you visit their sites?
Robin: There are many authors whose posts I used to read initially and soon I realized that I should write from my experience. These days I rarely visit their blogs or websites but there are names which I will surely share with you.
1. Neil Patel
2. Brian Dean
3. Harsh Aggarwal
4. Darren Rowse
Philipscom: You have been in the field of blogging for two years. Do you have any new projects in mind to start in the near future?
Robin: yes, I have been in the field of blogging for more than two years now. I am running my blog named “Tricky Enough”. This is my main blog and it is going on well and in fact, it is running very successfully. Therefore, I have started a new project with the help of some of my friends and named it as “Pixa Ocean”.
Philipscom: That is really an exciting news, I visited this page and it looks majestic. A page for photographs and other related images and graphics. Will you please show some light about this new project to our readers?
Robin: In the beginnings of the year 2017, I started this project called pixaocean.com and my aim is to provide images and graphics for free and that too with PSD files.
My main purpose of starting this website is, I love traveling and through my traveling, I acquire the images for my websites and will be giving it for free on request.
Philipscom: I heard from other fellow bloggers that you are an expert in SEO. What is your opinion about the future of SEO in this year 2017? I mean, do you expect any change in the present scenario? Or in your opinion is SEO continue to be a vital part in blogging in the days ahead?
Robin: It’s just the beginning of the year 2017 and Google has made more than 50 changes in their algorithms. Recently a new update named ‘Fred’ had been released which has been a problem for many bloggers and in the coming days, I think that Google is going to make it bit more difficult, and we are going to see many new things in 2017. Like Google has done the SSL certification an essential aspect in ranking part in the year 2017. Yes, I am sure there will be a lot of changes happening in this year too in SEO. Yes, there is no doubt that it will surely continue to be a vital part in Blogging for many more years that is what I believe.
Philipscom: You have published many technology related posts on your pages. Do you have any specific subject in which you are more interested in writing? If so can you please mention few of the titles you like the most and would share with the readers of #philipscom?
Robin: Of course I am happy to tell about it for the readers here. In fact, I am more interested in writing about SEO and its various aspects.
I have already published some posts like: ‘How to Increase Domain Authority?’
‘How the algorithms works?’
And in the coming days, I will be sharing another article which focuses on the complete study about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and working on AI with Google.
Philipscom: As we all know, technology is fast growing, what is your opinion about the usage of newly developed tools like plugins which ease our effort in blogging. More usage of plugins decreases the loading speed of the site, is that true?
Robin: It all depends on the sources we have, if we have better sources then I believe that we can have a lot more plugins without any problem, but lesser sources may trouble the speed of the website. But I will say a plugin which is not coded perfectly could result in decreasing the speed of the website. Also one need to be more alert while adding a plugin, as some outdated ones will give more trouble than help. Before inserting check the validity, updating date and if possible read some authentic reviews written by other experts.
Philipscom: Traffic is an essential part of blogging, many new bloggers struggle to get it. How do you get more traffic in your pages, any special tips or strategies to share with your fellow bloggers in this regard?
Robin: I use the strategy of sharing my published post on the pages of Social media sites like Facebook and its various forums and groups. Also share it on some of the top Internet Marketing publishing pages like Inbound, growth hackers etc. In short 80% of my blog’s traffic is organic and rest of the 20% is referral and Social traffic.
I will suggest the readers follow the On-page SEO techniques and go according to the Google’s algorithms.
Philipscom: Monetization is an important part of blogging, what are your strategies in this aspect? Of course, many bloggers mainly depend on Google AdSense, I am sure you use this too, but apart from that is there any other strategy you follow for the monetization of your site?
Robin: Yes I do use Google AdSense and I consider it as one of the best monetization networks. I have Google AdSense on two of my websites but on the other website, I use Bing ads monetized through MediaNet
Philipscom: Do you provide any kind of special services to the blogging community through your blog pages? If so what are the rates you charge for them?
Robin: Yes, if anyone wants to promote their websites through my blog then they can reach my blog by doing a guest post or by writing a review or a sponsored post. I usually charge around $60 to $120 for this type of promotion, of course, this depends on the type of links they want and what kind of promotion they want. The rate varies according to the posts they offer.
Philipscom: I came to know that you have been teaching in a computer firm as a part-time Professor in online marketing, blogging, and other internet related subjects. Do you still teach and what are the experiences you can share with our readers in this regard?
Robin: Yes, I have had a good experience in teaching the students on the subject of making money online. Yes, I have been working as a part-time lecturer in a college, but due to time constraint I discontinued that and now I am fully concentrating on blogging and other related activities. I love teaching and in the future, I will take up some projects to continually teaching the students fraternity about blogging, SEO, and the internet marking online as well as offline technics. My intention is to make aware to the enthusiastic students about the merits and de-merits of making money online etc.
Philipscom: How can a new reader find you and your works on the internet?
Robin: Probably through organic traffic, people can find and read my blog posts. Of course, they can reach me via my websites contact page as well as through my social media pages.
Philipscom: Do you have any other future projects in mind to start in the days ahead?
Robin: I am already managing three projects, so I don’t intend to start another one soon, as it will be too tiresome for me to handle alone.
Philipscom: Do you have any other hobbies besides blogging?
Robin: Yes, traveling and exploring new places is one of my favorite hobbies.
Philipscom: What is the advice you want to share with a newbie blogger or for that matter if someone wants to make money online what you will suggest?
My best advice will be if you want to make money online work hard and work smart. At the same time watch carefully what and how the seniors are doing by visiting their pages and interacting with the authors by expressing your concern, views etc via comments. Please do not just copy their tactics, instead develop a tactic of your own. Ultimately as I said hard work is the key here.
